If you remeber, every mid-month, I disclose my net worth in this blog.
Using last Friday’s exchange rate between Japanese yen and US dollar my net worth(s) are ¥92,479,266 (-1.6% MOM) and $849,057 (+1.9% MOM) respectively. These consist of cash, stocks and non-national pensions. So only the pensions cannot be liquidated until I turn 60.
If I use the simple exchange rate $1 = JPY 100, my net worth is JPY 88,163,812 which is a 0.4% increase to my surprise from the last month.
54% of my asset is held in US$ while the balance is held in JPY.
I am very surprised by this small increase because
- My income from my former day time job was significantly down as I quit the job in mid-July
- Both the US and Japanese stock markets have entered a slump primarily because of the recent North Korea-US tension
I think next month I will report a decline in my net worth for sure.
